Mariella
Soyeon and Minji asked me to create a visual language where Seoul and Berlin could merge into one loud invitation to come together for the love of food. The special occasion was Hangawi: a major mid-autumn harvest festival and a three-day holiday in South Korea.
Part of its incredible tradition, is the adorable belief that while everyone is celebrating, white bunnies are busy hammering rice cakes on the moon.
And there Mariella was born: a friendly character of kawaii origins, who adorns the space geometrically while inviting you to taste some food with the leanest smile.
Honouring the South Korean flag, we used red and blue as the main colours of the composition.
Needless to say, the dinner was a success and an incredible moment of friendship among far away cultures.
The excitement around the character of Mariella was so vivacious and positive that we felt like she could become a little mascotte for a series of posters.
The first was PICCANTISSIMO, a very spicy dinner - so spicy you could set your farts on fire.
In case that’s not enough of a relief, please help yourself with some Latte - and if you’re a 90s brat like me - you’ll enjoy the musical reference.
The third and final Mariella evolution was in a very intimate exchange with someone quite special: UNLIMITED FERTILE ORGASMS was our testament to great oral sex at the hand of an extraterrestrial being. Please enjoy the cute little alien sperms.

NOTES:
The character Mariella was the first lovechild of fellow designer Marco Rizzi and myself.
